Dragon Fruit Flower Tour with Iya Janina and Dádiva Divina Farm

At the Healing Arts Egbe we work with the seasons and cycles of Mother Earth for balance, health, productivity and joy. The months of May and June in the Tropics bring us the flowering blooms of the Dragon Fruit plant, a true feast for the senses. The dragon fruit cactus is a nocturnal flowering plant pollinated by night creatures such as bats and moths. We respect these creatures'  work so no evening tours are planned for the season. Departure from Panama City is at 4:00 a.m. and the tour includes breakfast and activities at the farm. Please call Iya Janina at (507) 6981-8310 to book this magical tour.

Iya's Background & Lineage

Iya Janina Ifakemi Walters

Translator - Priestess - Culturalist

Iya Janina hails from a Panamanian family of Afro-Caribbean origin (Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago) and Nigerian/West African ancestry. She studied Languages & Business at Université de Bordeaux Michel de Montaigne, France, and has been a Spanish, English and French certified translator of the Republic of Panama, and a conference interpreter for international organizations for over 20 years. She is a proud mother who is dedicated to her family, her community and her mission. She is the president of the Arnold Walters Foundation, a cultural organization that builds bridges of understanding and cooperation, supporting community programs in Panama and abroad, and she also co-founder the Afro Unidad Movement www.afrounidad.com, a Pan-African cultural movement that promotes consciousness, healing, freedom, and unity with ambassadors across 17 countries. Her book Afro Unidad Roots & Rebellions, co-written with Dr. Amir Whitaker,  is available for purchase on Amazon.

Her spiritual journey started in Florida under the guidance of the late Oluwo Fagbamila of the Ifa Foundation, where she was initiated into the mysteries of Shango, Ifa and Nana, to then continue her studies in Otta, Nigeria, where she was initiated by the Ancestral Pride Temple into her guardian orisha (Egbe Orun), a widely misidentified energy in the African diaspora but fully integrated and celebrated in the Isheshe Yoruba tradition of West Africa. She was also ordained as Ifa Priestess or Iyanifa of the Fashola Lineage, under the leadership of Oluwo/Dr. Faniyi Babatunde Fasola, Araba (Archbishop Ifa) of the ancient city of Otta, where she was also initiated into the mysteries of  Iyami Oshoronga, Oshun, Iyemoja, and Ogboni.  She serves as liaison for Latin America of the Ancestral Pride Institute of Cultural Studies - APICS.  Iya Janina continues to receive the teachings and guidance of her elders and offers monthly healing arts and African mysticism programs on OG Music Radio Instagram, as well as Afro Healing Dance workshops as part of her mission to bring healing, joy and balance to her community and the world.  #iyajanina #iyavision

How did I fall in love with translation?

In the 70's and 80s, Starfleet Lieutenant Nyota Uhura, xenolinguistics specialist (proficient in alien/astral languages) and communications director in the Star Trek series, masterfully played by the late African American actress Nichelle Nichols, inspired me with her leadership, beauty and knowledge....and she was one of leading characters of this popular saga too, so you can imagine her impact on my young and curious spirit at the time! Then, the Star Wars universe introduced us to protocol droids like C3PO, assigned to etiquette, customs, and translation tasks (processing + 6 million language forms), and many of us were decidedly impressed by this noble trade that is only matered by about 1% of the world population.

So, what is translation?

Translation is the bridge that allows us to communicate and exchange knowledge and ideas between cultures. Translators interpret language, culture, and energy because the words and heritage of a people are living entities. Our general culture, our love for this art, our travels, our books, and our constant quest for knowledge are all crucial to our success as linguists.

From the founding of Al Karouine University by Fatima Al Fahiri in 9th century Fez (Morocco) and the establishment of the University of Timbuktu by the great Mansa Musa in 12th century Mali, to the Schools of Alexandria, the House of Wisdom of Baghdad or its Spanish equivalent at the Toledo School of Translators, plus similar ones in Burgos, Sicily and Naples, Translators have been serving humanity for thousands of years. International Translation Day is September 30, the feast day of St. Jerome (translator of the Bible). The University of Bordeaux Montaigne, my alma mater, equiped me with priceless knowledge and language tools, my 20-year engagement in the corporate and legal sector provided me with international experience and exposure, and Eshu, the Yoruba Divine Linguist and master of all forms of communication, helped me discover the language of spirit through the binary and mathematical language of Ifa!

Freewill is your birthright, but it is also your right to seek guidance when unsure about life-changing choices: health issues, partnerships, marriage, employment. recruitment and career, relocation and migration, investments, home, pregnancy, adoptions, legal and adminsitrative matters, caregivers, trips or even the year ahead. Now, no one knows exactly what will happen in the future because it is everchanging, but I like to think of the Ifa Oracle as an Early Warning System that allows us to prepare and position ourselves ahead of any event that can alter the course of our lives. Ifa can also help in the aftermath, that is, after the occurrence of an event, and like a GPS, the Ifa oracle can help recalculate or correct our path. The advantage of this system, which will be celebrating 10,067 years of service to humanity in 2025 and was classified as world heritage by UNESCO in 2005, is its binary language (1s and 0s) and mathematical precision, as well as its enormous corpus or body of knowledge of things present and past, seen and unseen, practical and spiritual.

APICS is a branch of the Ancestral Pride Temple, led by our beloved elder and mentor Oluwo/Dr. Faniyi Babatunde Fasola, the Araba of Otta, Awori Kingdom, Nigeria.

Ifa encompasses all knowledge, nature, science and technology, and all Orisa (nature spirits) have their origins in Ifa and Yoruba Spiritual Science (Isese), as each Orisa has their stories rooted in Odu (energy patterns and footprints). For this reason, not all human beings are expected to become a Babalawo (Ifa priest), Iyanifa (Ifa priestess) or Awo Ifa (Initiate of Ifa). Some are destined to belong to and serve one Orisa or various Orisa, and this can be determined during Akosejaye (childbirth consultation) Ifa Initiation, Life Path Reading or Ordinary Consultation, and, lastly, through dreams, vision or psychology/consciousness.

Ifa is basically divided into three phases and each phase has its own outline and manual aimed at ensuring effective studies: (i)primary (ii) secondary (iii) tertiary/advance course. Our courses are open to both local (Nigerian) and International students. Write us to learn more. #apics #arabaotta #ancestralpridetemple

The dances and rhythms, drawn from nature and everyday reality,   illustrate the functional and communal character of Afro Dance, which reinforces our Egbe’s (community) method of  group healing through different life stages and circumstances (celebrations, rites of   passage/initiations, births, epidemics, marriage, harvest, drought, hunting,   divorce/breakups, funerals, war, the seasons, etc.), while developing our artistic and bodily expression, and understanding the rich polyrhythmic and polyphonic nature of African music, which is the basis of many modern rhythms
